Stewardship

Overview

Dartmouth’s campus and lands are a testbed for developing and implementing solutions to ensure the long-term resilience of Dartmouth and surrounding communities.

Partners across campus contribute to this work, which is guided by The Sustainability Office and the Our Green Future roadmap.

Materials and Waste

Dartmouth will leverage our purchasing, materials and waste management, and disposal to reduce environmental and social harms, and maximize positive impacts. Dartmouth seeks to close the loop and redistribute resources in key waste streams via programs including the Sustainable Moving Sale, Free Market Thrift Store, and Hanover Community Yard Sale.

Water

Dartmouth integrates community needs, scientific guidance, and regional best practices while managing our campus water systems.  Heavy precipitation events are increasing with climate change—and Dartmouth has a plan to weather the storm.
