The Climate Collaborative, Sustainability Office, Irving Institute, and Institute of Arctic Studies will be participating in Climate Week in NYC and hosting sessions throughout the week of September 20 - 27. Engage with Dartmouth and collaborators in workshops, panels, and candid conversations as we explore this year's focus of energy, impact, and the action that we drive together. Join us in celebrating the world’s largest climate event, bringing together more than 100,000 people across 1,000+ events in New York City. Dartmouth will contribute to 7 of these events.
Resilience Action Lab: Building an Integrated Just Transition for Our Communities
This interactive, train-the-trainers workshop explores how communities and organizations can build more resilient, equitable futures by addressing multiple challenges at once. Through a facilitated World Café process, Dartmouth insight briefings, peer learning, and hands-on activities, participants will apply systems thinking, multisolving, and a justice lens to identify opportunities, overcome barriers, and develop practical strategies for advancing climate resilience, energy affordability, public health, economic vitality, and community well-being.
Affordable and Resilient: Community-based Sustainable Energy Transitions
A successful energy transition requires community leadership, local partnerships, and solutions that meet the needs of the people they serve. This panel will explore how municipalities, organizations and communities are designing and implementing distributed energy systems that improve resilience, affordability, and sustainability while advancing local goals. Panelists will explore practical approaches for moving from vision to action through community engagement, collaborative governance, and equitable implementation.

Arctic Knowledge & Global Solutions
Co-hosted by Dartmouth, UArctic, and the Finnish Consulate of New York, this session brings together Sámi leaders alongside Finnish business and finance leaders advancing circular economy innovation. As the Arctic faces rapid environmental, economic, and geopolitical change, speakers will explore how Indigenous knowledge, circular economy principles, sustainable resource management, and community-driven leadership are creating practical climate solutions that strengthen resilience, local economies, and environmental stewardship. Through real-world examples from Finland and across the Arctic, participants will examine how these place-based approaches can inform resilient, equitable, and economically vibrant communities worldwide.
